Join one or many of our dynamic chapters! All members are welcome to attend any chapter meeting, provided space allows. Please contact the appropriate Chapter Chair whose name is noted in the chapter descriptions below.


Art Chapter

The Art Chapter offers its members opportunities to appreciate and enhance their knowledge of the beauty and worth of art in its various forms. Museum trips, lectures, films are scheduled for the absorption of the creative process.

The Art Chapter meets monthly at 10:00am on the second Wednesday after the General Meeting. Dates for 2023-2024 season are: 10/11, 11/15, 12/13, 1/17, 2/14, 3/13, 4/17, and 5/15 (check Calendar for more information). Read more…

Cards and Games Chapter

The Bridge Chapter arranges beginner bridge lessons, supervised bridge play, and group bridge luncheons at both the Community House and at the West Side Tennis Club. Additionally, a Scrabble/Games group also meets at the luncheons. For more details, go to the Bridge Chapter page.

The Monday Bridge Luncheon dates at the Community House for the 2023-2024 season are: 10/16, 11/13, 12/11, 1/22, 2/12, 3/18, 4/15, and 5/20. The Friday Bridge Luncheon dates at the WSTC for the 2023-2024 season will resume on Friday, October 6th. Weekly supervised bridge will also resume at the Community House on Thursdays beginning October 5th. Read more…

Community Affairs Chapter

The Community Affairs Chapter meets once a month to discuss subjects of interest or concern that impact our members and their community. In an effort to promote civic betterment, our members attend local Community Board meetings, communicate concerns to local representatives, act as advocates for our members on issues that will affect our neighborhoods, and provide our members with updated information about available community services.

This Chapter meets monthly at the Community House on Thursday at 10:00am. Dates for the 2023-2024 season are: 10/12, 11/16, 12/14, 1/18, 2/15, 3/14, 4/18, and 5/16 (see Calendar and Newsletter for more information). Read more…

Crafts and Creativity Chapter

A Circle of Women: No matter the level of talent, there is an atmosphere supportive of creative expression. From the time-honored yarn and knitting needles and crochet hooks to bead work for jewelry and decoration to paint, silk, and wood, members share ideas, work, and the joy of project completion.

The Crafts Chapter meets bi-monthly at the Community House on Monday at 10:00am, except for holidays that fall on a Monday or dates that coincide with the General Meeting (see Calendar and Newsletter for more information). Read more…

Discover Queens Chapter

The Discover Queens Chapter will meet monthly to explore the great borough of Queens. Most of the meetings will be held outside of the Community House and will include visits to various cultural performances, historical sites and other notable places of interest. Guest speakers may occasionally be invited to address the chapter members. Since the locations are largely offsite, email will be used to notify members regarding the logistics of the outings, including weather conditions that might affect the viability of the trip. Drama/Singers Chapter

The production for 2024 is well underway!

The much-anticipated performance will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 7 PM.

The Drama and Singers Chapter mounts a musical production once a year. In addition, they occasionally sing at special Club meetings, i.e. Holiday Musical programs. The group welcomes all members, especially those who enjoy performing (no audition) and those who prefer to work behind the scenes on such projects as lighting, sound and publicity. Evening Chapter

The Evening Chapter aims to mirror some of the events that are held during the day by other Chapters. The intent is to provide a venue for women who work outside the home to attend functions after work hours and meet other Club members. Events vary and include social, cultural, and dining experiences. Members are encouraged to recommend events and topics to the Chapter Chairpersons.

Meetings are held monthly, usually from 7:00pm-9:00pm (see Calendar and Newsletter for dates and more information). Read more…

Garden Chapter

The Garden Chapter aims to enhance the knowledge of flowers, their care and maintenance, within a friendly social setting for its members. Meetings for the 2024-2025 season will include planned trips, centerpiece arranging, wreath decorating, floral design workshops and an annual floral luncheon (see Calendar and Newsletter for dates and more information). The Ladies Lunch Club will organize a couple of lunches at local restaurants during the season.  Please stay posted and refer to the Calendar and Newsletter for further details.

Mindful Meditation Chapter

The Mindfulness Meditation Chapter offers its members an opportunity to slow down and find peace within, as life swirls on around us. Participants will learn how to meditate both formally and informally, and how to incorporate these practices into everyday life to promote a greater sense of well-being.

The Meditation Chapter meets bi-monthly at the Community House from 10:00am-11:30am (there is a small charge per class and specific dates will be posted on the Calendar and in the Newsletter).  Month-long courses and/or workshops will also be announced in the Newsletter. Each class will contain a guided meditation, a talk and question/answer period. Read more…

Music Chapter

The Music Chapter’s mission is to provide a discussion forum on musical news and events of interest, with a particular focus on enjoying local performances. Several classical or Broadway musical-type productions are selected to attend during the year, and a musical program is produced for the “Celebration of the Arts” General Meeting.

The Chapter’s Sing-along group, “Just For the Fun of It” meets monthly on the stage of the Community House at 10:00am.  The group has also performed at the Forest View Rehabilitation Center, and we are planning a repeat performance there, as a fun time was had by all! The dates for the 2024-2025 season are: 10/29, 11/19, 12/17, 1/7, 2/25, 3/25, 4/29, and 5/27 (see Calendar for more information). Read more…

Reading Chapter

The Reading Chapter selects seven books to read and discuss during the season.  We invite all members to make reading suggestions and our meetings are always very lively!  Please click on the link to our page to review the Book Readings List for the season.

Spanish Language and Culture Chapter

The Spanish Chapter is about learning not only the language but many other aspects of the culture of Spain, in particular its history and its relationship to Latin America. We explore the food and wine by dining at local restaurants and attending exhibitions.

What’s Cooking Chapter

This Chapter is open to anyone who enjoys cooking and wants to share that passion with others. Each meeting highlights a specific type of food, such as Crock Pot recipes, soups, summer salads, breads, etc. Members then bring in samples, along with the recipe, for tasting. We hope to come away with new ideas and recipes that will make cooking more enjoyable!

The What’s Cooking Chapter generally meets on the third Thursday of the month at 10:00am at the Community House. The dates for the 2024-2025 season are: 10/24, 11/,21, 12/19, 1/23, 2/20, 3/20, 4/24 and 5/22 (see Master Calendar for more information). Read more…

Writers’ Chapter

Members read and review their stories, poetry, etc. Most of our readings inspire in-depth conversations on the topic at hand. All members are encouraged to bring something to read at each meeting. One reason the group remains small is that we want to ensure that everyone has time to read her work – be it a chapter from a book, a poem, or an essay. And we do keep it lively!

The Writers’ Chapter meets monthly on Mondays from 9:30am-11:30am at the Community House. When we cannot meet the Community House (October 14th 2024), we will meet at a member’s home.  I will email all chapter members of any changes to our scheduled meetings. The dates for the 2024-2025 season are: 10/14, 11/25, 12/16, 1/13, 2/24, 3/10, 4/14, and 5/12 (see Calendar for more information). Read more…
